If you have followed me for any length of time, then you know that writing and reading are my two stationary hobbies that I enjoy doing a lot. I told you in one of my blog posts that I was going to do a lot fewer book reviews for authors and publishing companies this year. These 26 books is a roundup of books that I actually want to make time to read this year provided I can get my hands on it. I read a broad range of books! I can average 1-2 books read in a week depending on how much they capture my attention. I hope that you’ll find a book that will interest you in this roundup. Maybe we can discuss these books in more detail together.
Special Note: If you click on the name of the book I have included my affiliate link for all of these books, so if you do decide to purchase these books I do earn a small commission. I do feel that all of these books are worth reading.

Grow and Change Your Life Books
- Balanced Finding Center as a Work at Home Mom – Right now I’m a work-at-home mom. Even if I do land my job, I will still benefit from reading this book. I’ll still be juggling it all as I know many of you are too.
- 365 Blog Ideas for Lifestyle Blogger Who Has Nothing to Write About – I personally usually have something to write about all the time. I have a long list of blog topic ideas to choose from when I am unsure what I want to write. However, I also LOVE to get more ideas because you never know what kind of mood you’re going to be in when it comes time to write.
- Advertising Headlines That Make You Rich: Create Winning Ads, Web Pages, Sales Letters & More– This book came recommended with high intensity in one of the 8 podcasts to grow my blogging career that I listened to. The guy who mentioned it sold me on the idea of getting this book. It does have a beautiful price tag to it for the hardcover (which is what I would want for this type of book.) It does not have very many reviews. I held off of buying it. I am hoping to get my local library to order it for me. Maybe I’ll have some luck with that one. To their credit, they have managed to get every book I requested of them. When I first started blogging, I got two big bags full of blogging and marketing books from them.

I honestly want to ensure that my husband is well-taken care altogether.
- [easyazon_link asin=”1595890009″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Broken for a Purpose[/easyazon_link] I am a firm believer that God uses all bad things that happen in our life for a greater good. Even if we cannot see while we’re going through the hard times. I want to help encourage others to take that belief home too. I hope that this book will help give me the inspiration to put in my words what I’ve been trying to get out there.
- [easyazon_link asin=”1601421125″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Do Hard Things: A Teenage Rebellion Against Low Expectations[/easyazon_link] – This looks like a good read for a parent of a teenager (or in my case a preteen.) I am trying my best to get equipped to handle the teen years. Granted nothing will prepare me for what each of my kids will hand me, but some extra guidance along the way won’t hurt.
- [easyazon_link asin=”B00LTYZCP4″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Meal Planning for Busy Moms: Meal Planning Tips, Tricks, Printables and More![/easyazon_link] – Kristi from Momsconfession.com wrote this book for Moms like us who are trying to severe quality meals while living a hectic life.

Just because of that alone, I’m eager to give this a book try and see how much it will change our life. She also has a fantastic website at Living Well Spending Less.
- [easyazon_link asin=”0736959130″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Clutter Free: Quick and Easy Steps to Simplifying Your Space[/easyazon_link]- This book came recommended by one of my fellow blogging friends, Robin Smith from http://RobinONealSmith.com. She stated it was fabulous and filled with many good ideas of making your life clutter free.
- [easyazon_link asin=”B0056HPV0G” locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Thoughts and Quotes on Learning to Say “No” (Simple Words of Encouragement Book 1)[/easyazon_link] – I tend to say yes to everybody but my kids and husband all the time because I’m always so busy saying yes to others and doing for others. This year I’m going to be working on spending more time with them and working smarter that way when I have the time to spend with my family I can!

Now I know for a fact that Mandi has become the most sought after VA (virtual assistant) among the bloggers that I connect with online. I can only imagine how good this book is going to be to read. I do own it already myself and am eager to dig into it.
- Little by Little – This book gives tips on how to store food to get the most bang for our bucks. I need all the tips I can get for this issue. I can’t begin to tell you the amount of money that has gone down the tubes due to poor storage management of our food.
Books for Entertainment Value
- [easyazon_link asin=”B00G5IT5X4″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Crystal Dawn[/easyazon_link]- This came recommended to me from Rachel Nunes from The Evolution of Mom. She stated that her book club totally loved this book with a passion. I read the description, and it does sound like a pretty good read.
- Doreen – This book seems like it will be good for a few laughs. If the author had spelled the name of her book Dorene, then she would have been using my exact middle name as the title of this book. As you can guess that caught my attention right there.
- [easyazon_link asin=”B008YZ0184″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Sihpromatum – I Grew my Boobs in China[/easyazon_link]- This book is NOT my typical kind of book at all. I would love to know what his life was like. I imagine I’ll learn some good tidbits of authoritative knowledge from him like I did when I read Dolly Parton’s biography.

- [easyazon_link asin=”B00CLH9O8Y” locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]America’s Trust[/easyazon_link] – I do enjoy reading a good mystery. This book sounds like a mix of the mystery and fictional political scandal. I may not follow politics worth a dime, but I do enjoy a political drama with a bit of mystery behind it.

I hope you found something of interest to you in this long list of books.
Which of these books sounds interesting to you?
Great list Crystal! I can’t wait to check some of them out!
You’re welcome. Thank you for checking them out.
One of the books I am most looking forward to is Lara Casey’s “Make it Happen.”
I’ve never heard of that one. This book sounds really good just by the title. I’m going to have to look it up. Thank you for telling me about it.
Thank you for this great list! I will be adding some of these to my TBR list 🙂 I read Do Hard Things years ago when I was a teen/young adult and it was excellent! I need to read it again now 🙂
I’m glad to hear it was a good read. I hope it is beneficial.
This is an amazing list of books to read and I hope to have time this year to include some of these this year.
We make time for the things in life that matter to us the most. At least that was what I was raised up hearing all of my life. I hope you do get the chance to read at least one book if that is your desire.
This is a great list Crystal. My list is so long, I am not even sure when I will find time to read them. I love seeing what everyone else is reading because it helps me with book recommendations.
I am with you my list is really long too. I love to read with a great passion. There are many wonderful books in this world. Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I hope you found some good books in this list.
This looks like a great list! I am finishing up a book series and will be looking for some new reading soon and really appreciate the great recommendations!
Jeannette,
What series are you reading? I love a good series, and actually prefer to read them over just stand alone books when I can get the whole series at once.
I hope you find something on this list that interests you. If not, let me know what you’re really interested in reading and chances are high I can help you. I am a book hoarder (thank goodness they can be stored on my Amazon cloud and Kindle) instead of all of my house now.
Unfortunately I dont get a ton of time to read anymore. I am bookmarking this for my vacation away at the end of the month!
I hope you find something you enjoy reading. I tried to cover many different interests on this list. I hope you have a good vacation.
What a great list of books! I would love to read Yes, Please. I just downloaded A Mom’s Guide to Being a Virtual Assistant: How To Work For Others While Still Being a Stay At Home Mom!
Melissa,
You must know Mandi too. She is a well respected and saught after VA. I read her book (AFTER posting this post!) and found some tips to give you and overview of Virtual Assistance. If you’re really wanting to know HOW to do in detail then you want this book: .
I wish I could read more for pleasure and not because I have to out of a text book. There are 100’s of good books out there to read!
I hope you can get out of textbooks soon. I don’t miss those days, but yet in the same time would love to finish out my last eight classes for my bachelors degree. You’ll have time for pleasure reading sooner than you think. Maybe you can read a book for pleasure in between your breaks?
I have that How to Blog For Profit book sitting here, but hadn’t dug in yet. I’m looking forward to it. There’s a bunch of great suggestions on your list!
Liz,
This book has a LOT of valuable information in it. It covers just about everything you need to be successful in the blogging world. I’ve already read the entire thing once, but am working my way through it again.
That is a great list I need to start loading up my Kindle for some upcoming trips. I love how you categorized them, something for everyone it seems like!
Thank you for checking this out. I feel pretty confident that you’ll find something that will appeal to you on this list. If not, I have a LONG list of books that may interest you. Just tell me what you’re in the mood for and I can probably help you.
Lots of new titles to me. This one sounds like one that would be of use to me: Balanced Finding Center as a Work at Home Mom
I am eager to read that book myself. If I don’t land this job that I desperately long to have I’m going to have to find a way to be better at working from home again until I land another position. It’s not easy balancing working from home and kids that’s for darn sure!
I really wish I could make more time for reading but I think it’s less about time and more about the expense. I prefer to read on my iPad mini and each book is like $10 and up. Until I Found You sounds like a book I’d like though.
Cat,
I read on my Mini iPad all the time using the Kindle App, and I have THOUSANDS of books to read from Amazon that I’ve accumulated over the years for FREE. Plus with Prime we also get books to read for free each month too.
I’m currently reading Until I Found You, and I must say that I try to read a few pages of it every chance I get. It’s an excellent easy read.
Great idea to make a list of books to read! I’d probably include more for entertainment and less for growing and changing, because I usually read for escape.
Anne,
I honestly thought of that while I was writing this as well. Like you I do prefer to read for an escape a lot! Yet, I also do strive to learn better ways of handling things all the time too.
Other than the Cosby book I’m along for the ride. Not sure what I’ll learn from him. Siphromatum looks good though, I hope you like it.
Lee
Lee,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I grew up watching the Cosby show, and that is why I have an interest in that book. However, I do HIGHLY recommend Dolly Parton’s book.
Wow those are some great titles and I’m ready to grab a handful of these already and start digging in! I love reading and tend to choose books that enrich my life in some fashion or another.. You’ve got a few on this list that intrigue me. I hope the read is as good as the title 😉
I’m so glad you found some possible books worth reading. I am eager to dig into many of these myself. In fact, some of them I have already after I’ve written this blog post.
Awesome list. I do a lot of reading on my Kindle and, in fact, want to get a newer one. Thank you for sharing.
OH! I want to read ‘365 Blog Ideas for Lifestyle Blogger Who Has Nothing to Write About’ (even though I have plenty to write about! haha!) and the Clutter Free one!
Sara,
I’m guilty of having a long list of things to write about too, but still find this book manages to make me want to read it. In fact, I’ve already dipped into it, and love how it’s laid out.
I have to admit, I’d be lucky just to read 1 book this year. Some of those look really interesting, though.
Crystal,
I know what you mean about finding time to read during our hectic lives. I heard a wise saying a long time ago if you’re too busy to stop and enjoy life then you’re putting too many things on your plate. I didn’t realize how genuine and important that saying was until I looked death square in the eyes.
you had me at the first book on your list. I just became a work from home mom (I’m only on week 2!) and it’s definitely a learning curve finding my new equilibrium.
I’d really like to incorporate more reading for fun into my weekly routine. I forget how much fun it is to get lost in a story.
A great list of books! Thank you for sharing with Frugal Family – don’t forget to link up another post next Thursday! xx
Thank you Charolette for stopping by and commenting. I hope you found a book on this list that interests you?
I want to read many of these including Blog for Profit with out losing your soul, invention of wings and Big Little Lies. Thanks for sharing with #SmallVictoriesSunday. Pinned to our linkup board and sharing on my blog FB page.
I know the Blog for Profit book is good. The other two sound good and I hope to be able to read them this yeawr. Thank you for stopping by and sharing.
I LOVE book lists! Thanks so much for sharing with us at the Frugal Family Linky! Evelyne
You’re welcome. I hope you found a book you want to read next.
