With temperatures soaring already, the summer heat is the perfect excuse to whip out the blender and mix up some delicious smoothies! Smoothies are the perfect drink, you can make them as healthy as you’d like, and they taste amazing. I like using some frozen fruit and vegetables in my smoothies to make them extra refreshing. Here are five of my absolute favorite smoothie recipes, and I really hope you’ll enjoy them too.
1. Cooling Cucumber Smoothie
Take 2 medium cucumbers and peel and seed them, then roughly chop them and put them in the freezer. Throw your frozen cucumber in a blender with half a cup of water, lime juice, and sugar or honey (or agave syrup!). Blend, and adjust the liquid and sweetness to your taste.
2. Pineapple-Mango Smoothie
Blend 1 cup of frozen pineapple with 1 cup of mango, half a cup of water, half a cup of yogurt, and a sweetener if you think you’ll need it. Sometimes I throw in a couple of strawberries to add an extra flavor dimension to the drink.
3. Honeydew Smoothie
Take 2 cups of honeydew (try to freeze at least a cup of the stuff), half a cup of plain yogurt, half a cup of milk, and sweetener if needed, and blend it all together. Use more milk if you need to think the smoothie out.
4. Bootleg-BoosterJuice
I always made this for my boyfriend when we were in university. Take 1 cup of orange juice and one cup of frozen strawberries and blend .. it’s that easy! I like adding about half a cup of plain yogurt to mine and sweetening it with honey.
5. Tangy Orange Smoothie
Take a cup of orange juice, the frozen segments of one orange, half a cup of yogurt, and some sweetener, and blend it all together.
