5 Reasons to Plan a Fall Trip to San Diego

San Diego is basically a vacationer’s dream city. And while it is a wonderful place no matter when you go, early fall is one of the best times to visit because the weather is mild and absolutely perfect, and it’s just past high tourist season, so you’ll have the beaches all to yourself. Here are some great reasons to start thinking about booking a hotel in San Diego this fall.

The Beach

Let’s be honest, one of the main reasons people head to California is for the beautiful beaches. San Diego features 70 miles of gorgeous coastline, so you have your fill of beaches to choose from. No matter whether you love lying on the warm sand or getting out in the waves to do some surfing, sailing or kayaking, this city has it all.

Culture

Culture lovers will find Balboa Park has some of the greatest museums in the state. Check out the Air & Space Museum and Model Railroad Museum, as well as the giant San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego Natural History Museum and the Museum of Photographic Arts. There are plenty of affordable hotels in San Diego right near Balboa Park.

The San Diego Zoo

It’s no wonder even people staying up the coast of California sometimes ditch their San Francisco Hotel to head down south and visit the San Diego Zoo. It covers 100 acres and is one of the world’s most celebrated collections of animals. You’ll find over 3,700 animal exhibits, many rare animals and exhibits meant for children. Don’t miss it!

Downtown Action

The city has a bustling nightlife that features everything from high-end shopping malls and shopping districts to wonderful wine-and-dine options and, of course, amazing Mexican food. Getting a hotel in downtown San Diego means you’ll have easy access to all of these.

The Convenience

When you’re going on vacation, the last thing you want to worry about is the headache of getting around a new place. San Diego makes it easy to get from one destination to another; there’s very little traffic, and if you’re staying in a hotel near Balboa Park or downtown, you can likely walk everywhere you’re going. Traffic will be even lighter in autumn when the tourist crowds have thinned out.

Whether San Diego attracts you with its beaches, culture, the zoo the downtown action or the convenience, these are just a few of the reasons why you will love a fall vacation here!

Which one of these reasons is your most favorite one for traveling to San Diego?

  1. I have fond memories of visiting San Diego and dining along the water on a ship and have the best seafood I have eaten in my life.

  2. This post makes me miss San Diego. We lived there for 7 years and enjoyed every minute of it. The beaches are great and so is Balboa Park. Of course there’s also the zoo. There is so much to see and explore, we definitely need to go back for a visit!

    • I live in the southeast and if wasn’t for the fact that my husband got loads back and forth to California I wouldn’t have been able to get there either. I hope that one day you’ll be able to make that trip happen!
