My friend’s kids have recently discovered flavoured cream cheese spreads, and they’re kind of in love with it. They had it for the first time when my friend took them to a brunch party hosted by their aunt, and she tells me the devoured at least half a dozen bagels each thanks to the delicious spreads. The cream cheeses were all made by the catering company responsible for the food at the brunch party, and when I called to ask how much a tub of flavoured cream cheese would cost me, I quickly realized that an addiction to the spreads would not be great for my wallet. So after a week of experimenting, I’ve developed some pretty good flavoured cream cheese recipes, and according to my friend’s kids, they’re better than what they ate at the party!
1. Rosemary & Blue Cheese
Take 8 oz of softened cream cheese, and mix in your desired amount of softened blue cheese. Mix until combined, and then mix in some chopped rosemary. I used this in a tortilla wrap the other day, filled with buffalo chicken; the rosemary makes it much more refreshing!
2. Honeyed Berries
Decide if you want your berries to maintain much of their shape, or if you want a smoother consistency. Then, smash your berries til you reach your desired consistency, and drizzle honey on to them before mixing them into 8 oz of cream cheese. The kids love this one the most when I combine blueberries and strawberries, but I like it most with just strawberries.
3. Roasted Garlic Cream Cheese
Take between 2 and 4 cloves of roasted garlic and mash them into 8 oz of cream cheese. You can mix in everything seasoning, or just pick and choose which of its components (sesame seeds, poppy seeds, etc.) you want to fold in.
4. Minty Sriracha Cheese
Mix your desired amount of sriracha and chopped mint leaves into 8 oz of softened cream cheese. If you want to amp up the heat, add some chilli flakes. This would work great with gochujang and basil, too!
5. Nutella and Almond Spread
Take a coupe of spoonfuls of Nutella and some chopped almonds, and fold them into 8 oz of softened cream cheese. The kids love flavoured cream cheese a lot, for obvious reasons.
