I’m as country as they come. Many country folks love our jerky. Today is Jerky Day, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate it than by reviewing Golden Island’s Jerky in exchange for doing a review for them and hosting a giveaway for my wonderful readers.
We got the pleasure of reviewing six delicious flavors. We got Teriyaki, Grilled BBQ, Mandarin Orange, Hickory Black Pepper, Chili Lime, and Korean BBQ to try out.
We all had our opinions about each one of them. Some of us liked some more than others. It was definitely a fun adventure for us all.
There were three different grilled flame flavors included in our package. The Teriyaki flavor was a family favorite out of the package. This flavor was flame grilled to perfection and came out soft and moist. It was cooked so well that Zeva was even able to enjoy its taste bud inducer with ease. The Korean BBQ was one I was a bit leery to try, but once I sunk my teeth into this goodness— I was hooked. NO ONE got any of this package of jerky from me. It has become my new favorite flavor of jerky. The Grilled BBQ was good, but of the grilled flame it wasn’t one of my personal favorites. The boys fought over who was going to get the most of it though. Zeva ate her fair share of this one too. So, it was a favorite among the kids.
There was also three different kettle cooked types of jerky which were the ones my in-laws gobbled up. I honestly think it may have something to do with the generation gap and the way things have changed over time. I tried to get a favorite out of them, and they couldn’t decide on one. All of the kettle ones had a kick to them in my book. My personal favorite of the three kettle cooked kinds was the Chili Lime even though it was very hot and spicy. The kids loved the Mandarin Orange flavor. I have to say that the Hickory Black Pepper was spicy, but not overly so.
The good news is that one lucky reader will get the chance to try these out themselves. All you have to do is enter the Rafflecopter entry form.

I’d love to know which jerky sounds the most appealing to you.
Disclosure: Although, I did get the Golden Island sampler package to try for free in exchange for a review in no way did that shape my opinion of their product.
I don’t think I’ve ever tried beef jerky. I’m not a big fan of pepperette sticks or whatever they are called, are they similar? Some of the flavours sound good.
Stopping in to say thanks for joining the blogathon next weekend. Glad to connect with you and I know you’ll have a great time.
I don’t know what pepperette sticks are? I’ve never had them. They are like Slim Jim’s in jerky form. The ones I listed that were good are. 🙂
I look forward to the blogathon event. 😉
Chili Lime sounds great! 🙂
It’s the most spicy of them all. 🙂 My father-in-law who loves spicy things really liked it.
