I told my wife since I was going to do these Throwback Thursday posts that we needed to watch some oldie movies on Netflix. I wish you could have seen my wife’s face when I suggested that we watch the movie Hatari on instant play off of Netflix . She doesn’t like old movies and to get her to watch them is like pulling teeth. The other night though she was tired enough to comply with me to watch it. Hatari! is a John Wayne movie from 2001. If you’re a John Wayne fan, then you’re sure to love this movie.
For those of you who have never seen Hatari!, I’ll give you a quick family movie review of it. Hatari is a movie about a group of men who work in Africa capturing wild animals for the zoos in the US. They had a woman photographer (Elsa Martinelli) join them for three months. In those three months, there is a lot of romance and drama that brews between her and these men. It was funny watching Crystal determine which one of the men she was really interested in.
Hatari is a great movie to watch with your spouse and kids because it’s a great mix of romance, drama, and comedy. Plus if you’re an animal lover then you’ll enjoy seeing all the wonderful animal scenes throughout the movie. It is a bit of a long movie, but judging by the fact that I wasn’t allowed to pause the movie without Crystal getting upset it’s safe to say it is one that will capture your attention.
I must say that I think the “Pockets” character gained a soft spot in Crystal’s heart. She couldn’t stop talking about him even after the movie was over. She swears she’s going to start calling our middle son “Pockets.” (So, at least I know it was a TV crush that she formed.)
What are your thoughts on the movie Hatari!? Please tell me you’ve seen it. (Don’t let my old age show even more.)
