We all know that life is precious, but it’s so easy to fall into a rut. Before you know it, weeks and months have passed where you’ve simply not made the most of your opportunities. Get out there and take life by the horns, enjoy every moment and make your time count! Here are some clues that you’re doing it right.
1.You live a healthy lifestyle

Your diet will feature plenty of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Depending on your eating regimes, it will include lean meat and low fat dairy such as yoghurt and milk- otherwise you will be successfully substituting these with vegan or vegetarian alternatives to get all of the vitamins and minerals you need. Drinking enough water, quitting dangerous vices, getting enough sleep and moving your body will all be of importance to you. Exercise can be fun and enjoyable when you find something you like to do- you don’t need to be running in the rain at 6am before work or sweating it out in a busy gym. Swimming, yoga, hikes with your dog and country bike rides are all a fantastic way to keep fit.
- You’ve set goals in life and work
There’s nothing more satisfying than setting goals, and then going and smashing them. Goals help to keep you on track for the things that you want, and stop you from stagnating. When you’re living your best life, you have goals for both work and for life in general. Even if these change and develop over the years, you know the direction you’re heading in and how to get things done.
- You keep on learning
As adults, it’s easy to fall into a rut where we live the same day over and over. We get up, go to work, come home, eat and sleep. Over time this can be really quite depressing, one of the main reasons being we’re not learning new things. As humans, we’re naturally curious and wired to want to learn more, but it can be difficult when we leave school and start a job that’s much of the same day in day out. When you’re living your best life, you satisfy your curious mind by making sure you’re always learning. It could be anything from an online msw to a cookery class. It could be teaching yourself a new skill at home, or having a look at what’s available in the local area and going and taking part.
- You’ve mastered the work/ life balance
As well as working hard, a person living their best life knows how important the balance is. Advancing your career and achieving your goals are really important, but you need to be enjoying the rest of your life too. Take time out to do things you enjoy. Relax, pamper yourself, explore new hobbies and travel as often as you can.
- You feel grateful for both the big and small things
As the saying goes, ‘the secret to having it all is believing you already do.’ Look around and marvel at your life, you have a roof over your head, clothes to wear, a warm bed to sleep in. You have friends, delicious coffee to drink, pets that you adore. The person living their best life takes the time to appreciate everything they have, big and small.
