I have been a fan of the Ripley’s Believe It or Not since I was little girl. I have visited their locations in Myrtle Beach, SC and Toronto, Canada and totally enjoyed them. Unfortunately, I have not been able to take my kids to these awesome locations. When I was given the chance to review the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Book Reality Shock, I jumped at it!
I love how this book is divided up into different sections instead of mixing everything together. It’s broken down into world, animals, sports, human bodies, pop culture, transport, feats, art, food, and beyond belief. This book was even more enjoyable than I figured it would. I love reading these interesting facts. My kids enjoyed them as much as I did. I even got Del interested in a few facts.
Del and I have gone to Perkins in Summerville, SC as our restaurant of choice for ages, but then we went one day and it was GONE. It was replaced with the Mellow Mushroom. I’ve heard from MANY people in Summerville that this new place is a really good place to eat. I haven’t had the pleasure of going there, but I was tickled pink to see that they were mentioned in this book. Their tie-dye cheesecake literally caused someone to go into shock.
I don’t want to give away too much from this book that captured our attention. I assure you though that there is something for everyone’s interests in Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Reality Shock!

My kids love any books like these! They go around spouting the facts and trying to one up each other on the odd things they know.
My kids do the same thing. It’s fun to show off your knowledge on things that people normally don’t know.
I remember these books from when I was a kid! Me and my brothers would have a blast finding the weirdest and grossest facts! Thanks for sharing; it was a blast from the past!

We’ve always enjoyed visiting Ripley’s locations as well. My husband and I went to the one in Orlando on our honeymoon – I have some great pictures from it! The book sounds like it would be great for kids and adults who enjoy learning about the oddities of life and circumstances!
I am totally enjoying it. It mad for a great break today to share some new tidbits of information with them. (They hadn’t had the chance to read the whole book with me.)
