Team Us Marriage Together

Our relationships in our marriages have to be the toughest thing to maintain above and beyond any other type of relationships we have in our lives. That is the primary reason I write my marriage tips posts. I want to help you find a way to rekindle those passionate flames in your marriages. I also long for you to form a bond with your spouse where you feel like you’re one being. I was given the chance to review the book [easyazon_link asin=”0802411797″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Team Us: Marriage Together[/easyazon_link] by Ashleigh Slater from Flyby Promotions. I knew it had to be good since Gary Chapman foreword this book, but I didn’t expect it to be a book that would captivate me as much and as quickly as it did.

Ashleigh has done a remarkable job making me want to devour reading her stories about her and Ted’s  journey loving through life changes. If you’ve been to this blog enough times then you know how much I treasure books for Christian couples. [easyazon_link asin=”0802411797″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”tidbitofexp-20″]Team Us: Marriage Together[/easyazon_link] is no exception to this rule.

I’ll let Ashleigh tell you what she has hoped to accomplish by writing this book in this quick video.

This book has come at a good time in my life. Right now Del and I are dealing with some issues in our marriage as a result of his current health situation. I struggle with insecurity in the worse way, and when we’re not able to have a physical connection like I’m used to receiving from him it puts a significant strain on our marriage. This book reminded me that I was thinking too much along the lines of “me” versus using the mentality of “team us.” Del and I aren’t alone in these trenches. We’re just handling it to the best of our ability in our way. Unfortunately, as a result, we’re feeling isolated from each other to some extent. Even though, that is not our intentions towards each other. We’re working on bringing our relationship back into the team spirit mode, but both of us are unsure how to make that happen right now.

I do know that God is with us. I do know that our love for each other will help pull us through this rough patch in our marriage. It’s just another one of those seasons of marriage that we’re learning how to deal with.

I must say that she’s done a remarkable job of fulfilling her mission. I do feel like I’ve gleaned a lot of value from reading her stories. Even though, in many ways it did feel like she was preaching to the choir. It’s still nice to know you’re not alone in your thoughts and feelings on topics. If you’re happy in your marriage, you’ll still gain a lot from reading this book. Regardless of your current situation in your marriage you will benefit from reading this book. It’s one of those books that warms your heart, gives you laughs, and hits to the core of the matter all in a fun way.

I'm Crystal. I'm married to Dale, and mother to Johnny. Some might say that my life is perfect because I get to do all the cliché wife things like cooking, cleaning, and decorating - but there's more! I also have many hobbies including needlework (crochet), sewing, and reading. My son's education is important, so we homeschool him together.

  1. Thanks for the giveway and it is often hard to be on the same thought wave when life is happening at a rapid pace around us.

    • It’s so hard to remember it when we’re going through the hard times of life, and are unsure how to handle the situations.

  2. Well, after 23 years of marriage, I still don’t know it all 🙂 We are continuously learning, which is fine by me. We do follow the rule of TRUST. We have built an amazing foundation of trust, and enjoy that each and every day. We have our good days, weeks months and years, and our bad days 😉

    Great post mate….

    • I’m glad to hear that you’ve been married for so many years! That is such an amazing thing to have conquered in our society today.
Trust is very important. I suffer with major trust issues and it definitely puts a huge hindrance in my marriage. However, it’s not a result of anything my husband has done at all.

  3. Great post! As I have borrowed from a commercial, Life comes at you fast!
Your post reminds me of my recent marriage post comparing marriage to a basketball game! Being on the same team is sometimes challenging!
Thanks for linking up for Marriage Monday!
