I got Dandelions on the Wind: The Quilted Heart Novella One to review from Blogging For Books in exchange for a blog review. However, that in no way shaped my opinion of this book.
I actually finished reading this book on 18th of June. I have been saving this book review to go on my normal Sunday book review posting schedule. I do throw some book reviews in throughout the week too depending on what they are about.
Dandelions on the Wind was a sweet little romance. It was about a woman who came to America as a mail-order bride only to not get married to the man because she is losing her sight. Back in those times, when a person was losing their eye sight there was little to be done for them. (I’m personally glad that’s not the case in today’s society because I would be blinder than a bat without my glasses.) The man didn’t want to take on the extra responsibility of his mail-order bride.
This woman was taken in by a widow who was raising her granddaughter because her daughter had passed away in child-birth. The father ran off to war rather than stay behind and help raise his daughter due to a broken heart. That man decided to return home, and was given nothing but love and grace from his mother-in-law and his daughter and even the young woman who was working with his mother-in-law.
This story is well written and also just the right length. I didn’t get bored with reading it at all. I honestly felt like I was going back in time and literally being an observer to this young couples journey to each other.
I do recommend it. I’m hoping to get my hands on the other two books in the series in due time. I’m confident they will be just as delightful as this first book was. I have found another author to add to my like list.
Have you read any of Mona Hodgson’s books?
