In case you’re new here, Tidbits Thursday is a day that I set aside to share little things I’ve learned and enjoyed throughout my week. If you’re like me you are forever growing and changing. I love share the little things I find throughout a given week with you. It may be a great service, blog, or other tidbit of information that pops into my head. It’s basically a hodge podge post for the week.
This week there hasn’t been much time spent on school work for the boys. They have whizzed through their lessons and quizzes. So, to be quite honest I’m not overly worried that they don’t know the information. The weather here has been beautiful!! We’ve enjoyed the great outdoors in some form or another all week long. I’ve been loving it.
Today we went on a field trip to the local fish hatchery in our town. I was not impressed by any means. They have literally one kind of fish that they raise. It wasn’t very interesting one bit going to it. They kids and I had a lot of fun interacting with the other families. That’s the reason why we enjoy the field trips.
The boy’s teacher shared the website Free Rice. It’s a helpful resource for teaching kids varies topics through quick easy quizzes. The kids are also helping fight hunger at the same time because the company donates grains of rice for each question answered correctly. The kids love it because they like seeing how many grains of rice they can give to others.
We also learned that if we were to poke a stick into an ear of corn and cook it over an open fire we could eat popcorn like we do corn on the cob. I had never heard of that before. I am actually itching to try that one out. Have you done this before?
I really don’t have much else to share this week. It’s been rather quiet on the learning and Internet hopping this week due to spending so much time outside. However, I did get to share a few things with you.
What have you learned this week?
That really stinks that your field trip wasn’t all that great :(. However, the tip with the popcorn is AWESOME! You’ll have to let me know how it works out, I’ve never heard of that either!
I remember going to the fish hatchery with my dad when we were little. It was always so cool. That’s a bummer that your trip wasn’t that great.
Have a great weekend 🙂

I was expecting and hoping to see a lot more fish and animals. They had a very small selection, and it was at max three kinds of fish there. However, it was nice to be able to hang out with other moms while the kids played.
